Turns out you don’t have to be a hippy, or headed to San Francisco, to wear flowers in your hair. This spring’s hottest hair-trend might just be these intricate braids, arranged in such a way that it resembles a rose and it’s taking Instagram by storm.
Conceived by Alison Valsamis, a hairstylist based in Fairfield, Connecticut, the ultimate spring-themed updo may look way too complex and difficult to achieve at home.
However, luckily for us, Alison has explained how it’s done in an interview with Allure.“To create these roses, I start with a small 3-strand braid rolled up to serve as the centermost part,” she told the fashion and beauty site. “Next, I alternate between standard fishtails and Dutch fishtails pulled apart to create depth. I finish with a Dutch 3-strand braid only pulled out on the outermost side to create the large petal feel of a rose in bloom.”
Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?! For a more in-depth and visual guide, check out Alison’s Instagram and she will walk you through it, as well as some other fresh and seasonal styles. Scroll down below to be inspired, and let us know what you think in the comments!
